Welsh Singers Competition: Welcome

The winner of the Welsh Singers Competition 2014 will represent Wales in BBC Cardiff Singer of the World 2015 and will also receive a cash prize of £2,000 together with a trophy. Other finalists will receive a cash prize of £750.

The competition is open to singers at the early stages of their professional career aged 18 to 32 on 1 June 2015. They must be born or raised in Wales and should have received a significant proportion of their education in Wales.

The competition is arranged by Live Music Now in association with BBC Cymru Wales and with the support of The Arts Council of Wales.

Auditions for the competition will take place in Cardiff on Sunday 2 February and in London on Sunday 9 February 2014. The BBC National Orchestra of Wales will accompany the final on Monday 23 June 2014 at St David's Hall, Cardiff.

Live Music Now Wales will promote the concert. This charity was founded by Yehudi Menuhin to benefit both young professional musicians and the whole community. The musicians are given opportunities to perform to a wide range of audiences, bringing the experience of live music to thousands of people who cannot go to concerts.
